Carol A. Keene, Ph.D.

Acting Chair of Computer Science and Information Technology
Helping students become lifelong learners is the mission of Dr. Carol Keene, Professor of Computer Science and Acting Chair of Computer Science and Information Technology at Colorado Technical University. By creating an atmosphere both enjoyable and practical, Dr. Keene feels that she provides her students with the best educational experience possible.
With more than 30 years of teaching experience ranging from high school mathematics to graduate courses in computer science and information technology, Dr. Keene brings expert credentials and a relevant, applicable educational approach to the undergraduate and graduate courses she teaches and to the curricula she develops.
Observing the caliber of students currently at CTU, Keene notes, “Today’s students are more technologically aware. They demand the best I have to give and are more able to satisfy the high expectations of the university and the job market.”
Dr. Keene emphasizes to students the value of “free thinking” as a means of trouble solving: “Approach each course with an open mind don’t accept everything you read without a critical evaluation. Look for ways to apply what you’re learning and pay attention to details.” Offering counsel to graduates about entering careers in today’s job market, she recommends, “Be persistent. Be truthful. And emphasize your positive qualities and experience.”
Dr. Keene is actively involved in a number of professional associations, has been recognized professionally and has numerous publication and presentations to her credit.
Dr. Keene joined the Colorado Technical University faculty in 1996.
